ILR command probably liked your brother quite a lot, especially int the early part of the political destabilization aspects of the campaign.
On a side note My own writing tends to recoil from true "evil" in characters.

Yeah My brother had a real dark streak and he read deeper into the evil aspect of the rabbits in the comics than I did.

Plus he had a bit of a rivalry with Derek. I think he just wanted to get his goat (No goats were harmed in this event that I know of.)

And I kinda wanted to take Derek down a few pegs. He was a wee bit arrogant after boot.

Sooo I let Scott do the dirty deeds (done with sheep.)

I've been reading the comics again. I missed ALOT. I'm thinking I wasn't dark enough and Scott had the gist of it.

The net is partly behind the anarchist terrorists. (!!?!?)

The ILR is MUCH worse than I'd thot. Very much like Scott played them.

And now my experience in "real" life makes me a bit more cynical. So I'll try to write up the story as a bunch of "lesser evil" choices and see where it goes.

As a younger person/player I was a half ass'd good guy. The character I wanted to play was a home guard who was part of his planets EDF liaison and got dragged along to the Derzon misadventure.

He/I was/am a constitutionalist by nature with out much greed and too much sympathy.

20 odd years on I'm mostly the same but see the evils of the "free" market crapitalist scum that the ILR/U.S. are...

I see how the ConFed/EDF are the better route but I also see how they've become corrupt.

I wonder if they'll show the slow decline that the ConFed/EDF took after Derzon that had to have started during the first war.

Wonder if that'll have any effect in the tactical level?

So I/my character want/s to go back to the farm...back to my cabin all out in the woods..

(Did it really say: "Back to the howling old owl in the woods"...interesting...Yeah I have a bad habit of thinking in song lyrics and I'm trying to become a better punster...)

I wonder if they'll take individual morale/planetary loyalty into account?

Yeah there's GOTTA be a new RPG for Albedo...

I wanna play both!

O' Dear!

My brother put a lot of troops including several anti air missile troops in a hospital. He also put an anti aircraft cannon inside the hospital's atrium. (Based on the Wolfson's Childrens Hospital in Jax.)

Glass roof, easy visibility.

LOTS of civvies.

He set antipersonnel mines in the ceilings attached to sewage and water pipes and set a lot of high voltage wires on and around the floors.

He was an insidious plotter.

Derek was apoplectic at trying to NOT cause collateral damage and casualties. He easily lost a third of his troops and two of the three gunships I'd allowed.

He finally just drove an APC into the ruined atrium and deployed. The anti aircraft cannon had since been destroyed along with the civvies that had been handcuffed around it as defenses.

Poor civvies.

Also I had an NPC Rabbit doctor who was a special forces Captain. She was one of the chemical torture specialists. The only reason she was allowed was that she had a high class family and political connections.

She and some of the other special forces escaped out the sub basement access tunnels.

We never got to play again due to deployments...sadly.

I need to write the whole thing up. Maybe for use as a scenario.

Thanks for the comments - as a roleplayer mainly myself, I really dig immersive theming, so it' great that others do too.  Watch for the update tomorrow!

If you follow the Albedo Anthropomorphic forums, you'll see that Steve "The Creator" Gallacci is not a fan of this particular artefact.  He feels it's a bit flippant, and much more suitable for the ILR than the EDF.  I'm still liking it, however so it'll stay like this for posterity!

Uhm...where is SG and where's he say he didn't like it?/which forum?

I'm mostly active on FA and I've just started reading his website for the comics...

Great to see more of the background stories coming.  I especially like the ones that arenít specifically military!

Ah! Yes.

The few times we were able to play we mostly played the EDF response to and invasion of Derzon.

I was the GM.
Derek was a Jaguar (and some times a Doberman) Ground platoon leader.
Scott played the bad guys (VICIOUSLY).
Billy was a tiger aero pilot and some times a ground trooper (And had UNBELIEVABLE luck which I decided to run with as him being one of the "talents".)
Ryan was a Lion (yes I know) was a tank commander.

Our friend Derek was in the army, my brother Scott was going soon (The recruiter had decided I was too fat, ugly, and my momma dressed me funny.), and my youngest brother Billy and his friend Ryan were too young to go yet.

But we were all young and gung ho' etc...yuh know, standard young dudes.

So on with the war.

Since the first edition of Albedo RPG kinda sucked (Sorry Great Creator!) we "house ruled"/improvized it with AD&D and some random miniature rules we'd played from across genres.

That included some spy stuff.

Scott for his character played a scientist puma that may or may not have been a double/triple agent.

He was "officially" a citizen of the ConFed from third wave colony corporation world; "Libra Technologies: Holding the Balance of Power."

But he was in contact with/having an affair with an NPC ILR spy. She was a taller than average white rabbit built like Marilyn Monroe. (See, normal young guys.)

What he was really doing was playing all sides against the others to enrich himself. He had some loyalty to the company and a little to the ConFed but...

That interchange altered the intelligence information passed to the "good guys" played by Derek, Billy, and Ryan. Scott played those bad, bad wabbits...and, yes the vorpal bunny from Monty Python was MUCH invoked...

And our heroes were very surprised at the actual forces arrayed against them. The speed of the initial invasion and the preparations by my NPC spy/ies in recruiting agents and bribes to some of Derzon's Home guard had effectively doubled the actual forces on planet.

Some of the  Homeguard's equipment that was provided as an EDF lend/lease type program. The EDF equipment was some of the heavier and better tanks and heavy weapons.

These weapons were being used by "revolutionary"/"guerrilla" forces (I'd also read some of the "Birth Right" story line.). Some times that and the fog of war had caused some friendly fire incidents and forced the EDF to be fighting against it's own equipment and tactics.

Derek was sad to have had to destroy a (M-1 Abrams model) tank That had turned and ambushed them in the middle of the advance to the center of town.

I used that to up the paranoia and lower moral.

All of the things above were after ACP164's time line after they had already set their protocols of war and combat.

So, questions:

How is the ACP164 game going to show how the ConFed and the EDF developed it's systems/protocols?

Are there any "events" cards in the decks?

"Incorrect"/false intelligence leading to imbalances in sides?

Are there other "secondary objectives"?

Are there any plans to have Homeguard troops as allies or enemies?

Corporate intrigues/security troops?

Yeah, I've an active imagination and can see many many scenarios.

Also are y'all gonna include any of the "talents' to effect the game? Designating one fig to be special?

I like it. It reminds me of the Starship Troopers movie.

I can see why SG may not like it much. The ConFed and EDF are mostly well disciplined and their "Motivationals" would be a little more subtle.

I can easily see this as a tertiary world piece. According to his history the tertiaries were more experimental and freeform as some of the after Derzon story lines show.

I'm rereading the comics at He's also uploaded his Refractions stuff which I didn't' even know existed til 10 years or so ago and could never find in print.

I'd like to make something like this "artifact" how do I go about doing that? Sadly the best of my skills are...lacking in construction abilities...

O' so many good replies.

What I really liked was that it WAS focused on people and systems of government.

As a younger player I was slightly annoyed with the first edition and it's focus on "forcing" specific behaviors. Later when I realized the short comings of no "enforcement" of game world restrictions/cultures/behaviors and the lack of gamers who were willing to actually ROLEPLAY I saw the mechanics as a needed part of the game.

Is there any way to expand this into the minis game or any future cross over with an RPG?

I watched the "let's play" video and I thought I'd caught something of the like with the different card sets.

Yeah I'm not memories of what I know need to be refreshed but I seem to remember that SA said that the ILR had some allies but were not necessarily beholden to the species superiority that they showed.

Luckily he's uploading Albedo and Refractions (Something I never even known existed back then...) at his site:

Just incase you haven't seen it.
