Great to see more of the background stories coming. I especially like the ones that aren’t specifically military!
Ah! Yes.
The few times we were able to play we mostly played the EDF response to and invasion of Derzon.
I was the GM.
Derek was a Jaguar (and some times a Doberman) Ground platoon leader.
Scott played the bad guys (VICIOUSLY).
Billy was a tiger aero pilot and some times a ground trooper (And had UNBELIEVABLE luck which I decided to run with as him being one of the "talents".)
Ryan was a Lion (yes I know) was a tank commander.
Our friend Derek was in the army, my brother Scott was going soon (The recruiter had decided I was too fat, ugly, and my momma dressed me funny.), and my youngest brother Billy and his friend Ryan were too young to go yet.
But we were all young and gung ho' etc...yuh know, standard young dudes.
So on with the war.
Since the first edition of Albedo RPG kinda sucked (Sorry Great Creator!) we "house ruled"/improvized it with AD&D and some random miniature rules we'd played from across genres.
That included some spy stuff.
Scott for his character played a scientist puma that may or may not have been a double/triple agent.
He was "officially" a citizen of the ConFed from third wave colony corporation world; "Libra Technologies: Holding the Balance of Power."
But he was in contact with/having an affair with an NPC ILR spy. She was a taller than average white rabbit built like Marilyn Monroe. (See, normal young guys.)
What he was really doing was playing all sides against the others to enrich himself. He had some loyalty to the company and a little to the ConFed but...
That interchange altered the intelligence information passed to the "good guys" played by Derek, Billy, and Ryan. Scott played those bad, bad wabbits...and, yes the vorpal bunny from Monty Python was MUCH invoked...
And our heroes were very surprised at the actual forces arrayed against them. The speed of the initial invasion and the preparations by my NPC spy/ies in recruiting agents and bribes to some of Derzon's Home guard had effectively doubled the actual forces on planet.
Some of the Homeguard's equipment that was provided as an EDF lend/lease type program. The EDF equipment was some of the heavier and better tanks and heavy weapons.
These weapons were being used by "revolutionary"/"guerrilla" forces (I'd also read some of the "Birth Right" story line.). Some times that and the fog of war had caused some friendly fire incidents and forced the EDF to be fighting against it's own equipment and tactics.
Derek was sad to have had to destroy a (M-1 Abrams model) tank That had turned and ambushed them in the middle of the advance to the center of town.
I used that to up the paranoia and lower moral.
All of the things above were after ACP164's time line after they had already set their protocols of war and combat.
So, questions:
How is the ACP164 game going to show how the ConFed and the EDF developed it's systems/protocols?
Are there any "events" cards in the decks?
"Incorrect"/false intelligence leading to imbalances in sides?
Are there other "secondary objectives"?
Are there any plans to have Homeguard troops as allies or enemies?
Citizens?
Rebels?
Guerrillas?
Corporate intrigues/security troops?
Pirates/opportunists?
Yeah, I've an active imagination and can see many many scenarios.
*EDIT*
Also are y'all gonna include any of the "talents' to effect the game? Designating one fig to be special?
